I have walked through 46 states, passed through over 1400 cities, towns, and villages, and wore out 32 pairs of shoes covering approximately 24,000 miles. With the exception of my first hike of the Appalachian Trail, I carried over my head a large sign ..."LOVE LIFE"

Why thank you very much Heidi, good to hear from you! I'm trying to get ready to get back to walkin'. I'm getting very excited about it. As much as I miss the creature comforts of domestic life... the freedom of being out there on the road meeting new interesting individuals on a daily basis... it's definitely worth the sacrifice. Hey Ricky & Misty!! Of course I remember y'all! I remember your cool place back in the woods in Trout, Louisiana and spending the night there after a great meal and Misty reading Ricky's poetry for me. I had a wonderful time sitting out on the porch you built from timber off your own land. Thank you for all your kindness!! How is your little boy and how old is he now?
I am doing wonderful, I'm in California and slowly making my way up to Washington. I'm about 110 miles from Oregon. It sure is beautiful up here. Great to hear from you, please stay in touch! ~ Friend, Steve "LOVE LIFE" Fugate

It was a pleasure seeing you walking down the railroad tracks picking up litter. I had actually walked quite a distance past you and I realized it woud be very wrong for me to not catch back up with you and tell you what a wonderful thing you were doing! I loved your reason for doing it, "I don't want it to look like Cincinnati!" You brightened my day.... I pray you keep your buz going forever! Steve Reply to this

Hi Steve, It was wonderful to meet you yesterday as you were leaving El Centro, California. I enjoyed our conversation, on several topics, but really enjoyed hearing about you and your purpose. Stevie and Shelly would be so proud. Stay strong Steve, and know that you touch so many lives in so many valuable ways. You are a true Blessing in today's society with the hardships that so many people endure. For the sake of so many, continue to share your word "Love Life'. I think that will be my new motto. Like I told you, I feel I am a pretty positive person, like yourself. Spread the wealth - right? So proud of you for making it more of your life to get out there and share it across America. We are rich for 'loving life', but you are extremely wealthy for sharing your 'love life'. Take care, be safe, and have fun. I'll keep in touch Steve. Bless you always for caring so much for the human life. LOVE LIFE! Reply to this

Kim, It was a pleasure to meet you as well. I loved hearing how you intervened with love and saved your brother from suicide by changing his environment and giving him new and positive goals far removed from the cause of his woes. No one really wants to die, they just get to such a state as to where they can see no other way out. You took authority, went in and.... gave your brother enough breathing space away from his fears and enabled him to... see the forest in spite of the trees! Thank you! And thank you so very much Kim for the kind and encouraging words! ~ Steve "LOVE LIFE" Fugate Reply to this

TGFB... I like that. How about this one, TGFM... Thank God For Motels! I usually am very blessed to get even two motel stays a month, I've had to use up my motel stay allotment because I am stuck in the urban sprawl of L.A. where there is no place to pitch a tent. I've had to walk through all of Fontana, and San Bernardino. I should be out of San Bernardino sometime tomorrow. I am on Route 66 and am staying in the number 120 teepee at the Wigwam Motel. It is totally charming! There are only two others in the U.S., one in Arizona and the other in my birth state of Kentucky. My new friend Tony just called me again, he said he was going to call me every time he felt down... I hope he really does. Maybe I can help him not to do any more stupid shit! ~ Steve Reply to this
