I have walked through 46 states, passed through over 1400 cities, towns, and villages, and wore out 32 pairs of shoes covering approximately 24,000 miles. With the exception of my first hike of the Appalachian Trail, I carried over my head a large sign ..."LOVE LIFE"

Thank you Sharon for letting me know. Such words of encouragement are verification I am doing something right ... this is the fuel which keeps me going. I believe we all have the right to do whatever we desire in this life as long as we do no harm to others. A simple fact; suicide can totally destroy the lives of those left behind! This is why I am emphatic in stressing, "You can't take your own life it's not yours to take!!" Our lives belong not only to us but to our family and friends, they have a huge investment in us... I too just heard your story from the NPR "Hearing Voices" series and was deeply touched.
Thank you not only for having the courage to share your loss but also for showing the strength to heal your life.
I am so sorry for the loss of both your son and daughter. I mean that from my heart.
I know the pain of suicide as my niece, Brandi, took her own life in 2000, just days after her 15th birthday.
The axis on which my very existence had spun, shifted. A person cannot know the depth of grief, until they are pushed down it's dark well. It would be many days before I could see the light.
After drowning my pain in alcohol for several years, I finally "got sober" through the help of a lifesaving 12 step program and was able to see the pain I was causing my family and myself.
Most days are good now. I do not always cry when I talk about her death but sometimes in the dark of the night, I so long to clutch her to me and never let go.
I send you my love across the miles beacause you are part of my human family. Where you have pain, I wince and where you have joy, I smile.
Keep on Loving Life! You are changing the world for the better!! Reply to this

Thank you Lindsy. I have found solace, I've found it by being used to give you and others clarity about how very important we are to the ones who love us. No, our lives our not just our own to do with as we wish. Freedom is wonderful and we are all free to do anything we want... except hurt others. And the taking of ones life goes way beyond just causing horrible pain to the ones who love us, it can and does destroy the lives of the ones left behind. Reply to this
